Riverside, California Metro Area Top 5 Home Sales: Palm Springs Bono Estate Leads at $7.2 Million

Five of the highest-priced publicly reported home sales identified in the Riverside, California metro area totaled $24.76 million for the calendar week ending Sunday, August 2, 2026 — an average of $4.95 million per transaction. The Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario metro area covers Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

Every one of the five closed in the Coachella Valley, and every one closed in the last week of July. That combination is what makes this week worth reading. The metro is home to roughly 4.6 million people, the large majority of them in the Inland Empire cities at its western end — Riverside, San Bernardino, Ontario, Fontana, Moreno Valley — and none of those cities produced a sale near this list. The top of this market sits sixty to a hundred miles east, in a string of desert resort towns whose combined population is a fraction of Riverside’s alone: Palm Springs, Indian Wells, Palm Desert and La Quinta, which placed twice. It closed in the valley’s hottest weeks, when daytime highs run past 110 degrees and the seasonal population is at its thinnest.

No. 1 — $7,200,000 · 294 W Crestview Dr, Palm Springs, California

Top home sale No. 1 in the Riverside, California metro area β€” 294 W Crestview Dr, Palm Springs, California, week ending August 2, 2026

The week’s highest-priced transaction in the Riverside metro area closed July 28 at a publicly reported $7.2 million: a 1940-built estate on West Crestview Drive in Palm Springs, marketed as the Bono Estate and described in listing materials as the former home of Sonny and Mary Bono. The seven-bedroom house measures approximately 8,989 square feet on a 1.51-acre parcel in The Mesa, the neighborhood tucked against the base of the San Jacinto Mountains at the southern edge of the city.

It is the oldest home in this week’s report by more than half a century, and the largest. Sonny Bono’s association with Palm Springs outlasted his recording career — he served as the city’s mayor from 1988 to 1992 before his election to Congress — and provenance of that kind is a durable part of how estates in this city are marketed. At roughly $801 per square foot the sale is priced below three of the four homes beneath it on this list, which is the trade a buyer makes for scale and a named address rather than recent construction.

No. 2 — $5,587,500 · 74403 Desert Bajada Trl, Indian Wells, California

Top home sale No. 2 in the Riverside, California metro area β€” 74403 Desert Bajada Trl, Indian Wells, California, week ending August 2, 2026

The runner-up closed July 30 at a publicly reported $5,587,500 on Desert Bajada Trail, inside The Reserve in Indian Wells. Built in 1999, the four-bedroom house measures about 5,136 square feet and carries four full bathrooms and two powder rooms, arranged around a private courtyard on a golf community bordered by the Santa Rosa Mountains.

At approximately $1,088 per square foot it is the most expensive space sold in the metro this week — a figure the leading sale, nearly twice its size, does not approach. The house came to market in May 2026 at $5,875,000 and closed roughly five percent below that asking price about ten weeks later, a pace that reads as an orderly negotiation rather than a property struggling to find a buyer in the off-season.

Gregory Gard of California Lifestyle Realty was the listing agent.

No. 3 — $5,375,000 · 49967 Ridge View Way, Palm Desert, California

Top home sale No. 3 in the Riverside, California metro area β€” 49967 Ridge View Way, Palm Desert, California, week ending August 2, 2026

Third place went to Palm Desert, where a house on Ridge View Way closed July 30 at a publicly reported $5.375 million. With four bedrooms across roughly 6,265 square feet, three full bathrooms and a powder room, it is the second-largest home in this week’s report and sits within roughly $200,000 of the sale above it despite offering about 1,100 more square feet.

The two form the week’s clearest paired comparison. Ridge View Way delivers more house for slightly less money at about $858 per square foot; Desert Bajada Trail delivers less house behind the gates of The Reserve for slightly more. Both closed on the same day, eight miles apart, which is about as controlled a comparison as a single week of sales is ever going to offer.

Compass held the listing. RealtyWire was unable to independently verify the individual listing agent for this transaction; corrections are welcome and will be published.

No. 4 — $3,700,000 · 80645 La Docena Trl, La Quinta, California

Top home sale No. 4 in the Riverside, California metro area β€” 80645 La Docena Trl, La Quinta, California, week ending August 2, 2026

A five-bedroom house on La Docena Trail in La Quinta closed July 30 at a publicly reported $3.7 million, behind the gates of La Quinta Polo Estates. Built in 1998 and running to about 5,955 square feet, it sits on more than two acres with views toward the Santa Rosa Mountains — the largest parcel in this week’s report by a wide margin.

Land is what separates this sale from the four around it. The Coachella Valley’s newer luxury product is largely built on golf-course and country-club lots measured in fractions of an acre, and La Quinta Polo Estates, laid out for horse property on the valley floor, is one of the few places in the area where multi-acre residential parcels come to market at all. The result is the lowest price per square foot on this list, roughly $621, attached to the most land.

Craig Chorpenning of Desert Sotheby’s International Realty was the listing agent.

No. 5 — $2,900,000 · 81699 Merv Griffin Way, La Quinta, California

Top home sale No. 5 in the Riverside, California metro area β€” 81699 Merv Griffin Way, La Quinta, California, week ending August 2, 2026

The list closes with a second La Quinta sale, on Merv Griffin Way, which closed July 28 at a publicly reported $2.9 million. The four-bedroom house measures approximately 4,154 square feet with four full bathrooms and a powder room, making it the smallest home in this week’s report. The street takes its name from the television producer and entertainer Merv Griffin, whose ranch in La Quinta became one of the desert’s better-known private estates.

It is a useful marker for where this market’s top tier actually begins. At $2.9 million the fifth-place sale is worth barely 40 percent of the leader, a spread far wider than most metros this size produce in a single week, and the gap between it and the four above reflects how thinly the valley’s highest prices are spread across any given seven days in midsummer.

Honey Guleria of Coldwell Banker Realty was the listing agent.
