No. 1 — $1,500,000 · 5506 Bootjack Dr, Frederick, Maryland

Top home sale No. 1 in Frederick Area, Maryland β€” 5506 Bootjack Dr, Frederick, Maryland, week ending November 1, 2026

Frank Lloyd Wright inspired the design of this contemporary home in Mountain Laurel Estates, and much of its wood and stone was gathered from the 10.46 wooded acres around it. Built in 2002, the three-story home has three bedrooms, five bathrooms, four fireplaces and 5,596 square feet of living space. The property last sold for $85,000 in 1996, before the current house was built.

Reclaimed granary oak, taken from historic barns in Ruckersville, Virginia, covers the foyer floor and continues on the lower level. In the formal dining room, a reproduction George Nakashima table and chairs sit under a custom wood ceiling that replicates the dining-room light fixture at Wright’s Fallingwater. The great room has a stone fireplace and custom built-ins, and there is a private office. The open kitchen is built around an oversized island, with a six-burner Viking gas range, a Sub-Zero refrigerator and two Thermador ovens, plus a walk-in pantry and a butler’s pantry. A breakfast room with a wood-burning fireplace handles casual meals.

Open low-rise stairs lead to the upper level and the primary suite, which has a lighted tray ceiling, a stone gas fireplace and a private balcony. Its bathroom has a soaking tub and a walk-in shower with two heads. A loft lit by skylights adds flexible space. The finished lower level has lighted custom built-ins and a gas fireplace with a stone surround, and its full bathroom has stone walls and cabinetry by Mark Palmquist, a furniture designer and maker from Frederick. The large garage is also on that level, along with two storage rooms and a workshop with floor-to-ceiling shelving. A detached garage sits down a stone walkway, a heated driveway runs from the cul-de-sac to the garage, and a generator serves the whole home.

The home went under contract 11 days after it was listed and sold for $1,500,000, its full asking price, the top sale of the week. Lori Rogers of Keller Williams Realty Centre was the listing agent, and Patrick Smith of LPT Realty, LLC represented the buyer.
