The five highest-priced home sales reported in Greater Hartford Area, Connecticut for the week ending November 1, 2026 added up to $5.345 million. Four of the homes are in Hartford County and one is in Tolland County. They range from a Colonial finished in 2019 on a small suburban lot to a 1978 home on wooded acreage above an old quarry, with suburban family homes in Rocky Hill and Ellington in between.
No. 1 — $1,450,000 · 76 Sturgeon River Road, Glastonbury, Connecticut

At the end of a tree-lined drive in Glastonbury, a brick Colonial on 6.29 acres sold for $1,450,000, the highest price of the week. Built in 2004, the home is on a cul-de-sac about five miles from Glastonbury Center, and its land borders a town-owned preserve.
It is also the largest of the five homes, with 7,213 square feet of living space, four bedrooms and six bathrooms, five full and one half. A two-story foyer opens to a center hall that runs from the front of the home to the back over radiant-heated tile. The great room rises two stories as well, with built-in bookcases, inlaid hardwood and a gas fireplace under a detailed mantel. The front living room has paneled walls, and a butler’s pantry adjoins the formal dining room. In the kitchen, a large island has a breakfast bar, and French doors lead from the eating area out to the rear patio. Upstairs, each of the four bedrooms is a suite with a walk-in closet and its own full bath; the primary bath has a jetted soaking tub and a separate shower. A walk-up attic sits above.
The finished lower level, about 2,000 square feet, has its own living room with a gas fireplace, a home gym, a bar and a wine cellar, and a wall of glass with sliding doors opens onto a private stone patio. Outside, tiers of stone terrace and lawn surround a heated saltwater in-ground pool, and there is a wood-burning fireplace built of stone. The property last sold in 2019 for $926,000.

No. 2 — $1,400,000 · 400 Dayton Road, South Glastonbury, Connecticut

The Howe Quarry Cliff House, as the property is known, stands at the top of a cliff above a historic quarry and its pond in South Glastonbury. It sold for $1,400,000, and its 24.94 wooded acres make up the largest lot among the week’s five sales.
The home was designed around its views, which take in the Hartford skyline, the Connecticut River Valley and Sleeping Giant in New Haven, and which also look directly down into the quarry. From the deck and the porch, eagles and hawks can be seen at eye level. Built in 1978, it is the oldest home on the list, and with 2,312 square feet, two bedrooms and three bathrooms, two full and one half, it is also the smallest. A recent renovation reached every part of it, bringing earthy colors, wood cabinetry, wide-board floors and plenty of windows. In the main living and dining area, a fireplace of stone cut from the quarry itself climbs from floor to ceiling, and the primary and guest bedrooms each have a bathroom finished in stone.
The land is much of the story. Trails wind through the woods, down to the pond and along the cliffs, and the property also has a brook and a shooting post. A separate bunkhouse gives visiting friends and family a place of their own. The home has garage space for three cars, and a lower-level garage opens straight into the basement, with room for ATVs and outdoor gear. The property last sold in 2020 for $625,000.
Jeffrey R. Anderson of William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty was on both sides of the sale, as a listing agent alongside Wendy Anderson of William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty and as the agent who represented the buyer.
