
These were the five highest-priced home sales reported in the Springfield, Massachusetts metro area for the week ending October 4, 2026, and together they totaled $3.925 million. All five were single-family homes in Hampden County, and Southwick accounted for two of them, which together sold for $1,465,000. The group spans more than a century of building, from an 1890 landmark in Springfield to a home completed only two years ago, with Chicopee and Ludlow filling out the list.
No. 1 — $1,200,000 · 22 Sunset Rdg, Ludlow, Massachusetts

The newest home in this week’s group sold for $1.2 million at 22 Sunset Rdg in Ludlow, part of the Sunset Ridge subdivision. Completed in 2024, it is a custom-built Colonial in the modern farmhouse style, and it also sits on the largest lot of the five, 1.09 acres with professional landscaping and a sprinkler system.
The main living space is open. The kitchen has quartz countertops, a butler’s pantry and an oversized island that runs into the dining area, and the living room beyond it shares a two-sided gas fireplace with a dining spot out on the deck. The primary bedroom and its bath are on the first floor, along with a private office, a laundry, a mudroom and a half bath, and the attached garage takes three cars, the most of any home in the group.
On the upper level are a loft that works as a family room, three more bedrooms and two full baths, with access to a covered porch that takes in scenic sunset views. An unfinished bonus room up there could become an in-law suite or more living space. In all, the home has four bedrooms, three full baths and one half bath, 3,092 square feet of living area and a full, unfinished basement with walk-out access.

Built in 2000, it sits on 0.95 acres of cleared, level land, landscaped and framed by mature trees around a private backyard.
The interior is built around volume and trim. The foyer rises two stories, with hardwood floors, crown molding, decorative columns and a sweeping staircase. From the open kitchen, a columned archway leads into a two-story great room with floor-to-ceiling windows, custom built-ins and a gas fireplace. The kitchen has cherry cabinets, granite counters, stainless steel appliances, an island with seating, a walk-in pantry and a dining area that looks out over the backyard. The oldest home in the group is also the one with the most history. The William McKnight House at 1176 Worthington St in Springfield was built in 1890 for and by the developer of the surrounding neighborhood, and it gives the McKnight Historic District its name. It sold for $575,000, its full asking price.
The home sits on a corner lot of 0.36 acres between Thompson Triangle park and the landscaped Dartmouth Terrace, in the part of Springfield known as its garden district. Its own grounds have winding, established gardens, fruit trees, a stone wall and a large fenced yard. A wraparound piazza runs along the outside, and there is a balcony on the second floor.
Inside, it has the largest living area of the five, at 4,565 square feet, and the most bedrooms, with six, along with three full baths, one half bath and five fireplaces. The period detail is extensive: coffered and vaulted ceilings, textured papier-mache ceilings, pocket doors and French doors, leaded glass, built-ins, hand-carved fretwork and mantels, a Dutch front door, and floors of hardwood, marble and tile.
