A remodeled La Jolla contemporary led a week that also brought oceanfront sales in Leucadia and South Oceanside and a Rancho Santa Fe horse farm.

San Diego, California Metro Area Top 5 Home Sales: La Jolla Contemporary Leads at $13.5 Million

The five highest-priced home sales reported in the San Diego metro area for the week ending October 4, 2026, totaled $42.695 million. La Jolla had two of them, and the others were in Encinitas, Rancho Santa Fe and Oceanside.

The homes range from a large remodeled estate to homes set right at the edge of the Pacific and a property built around horses, where the arena and barn get as much attention as the home itself.

No. 1 — $13,500,000 · 7778 Starlight Dr, La Jolla, California

The top sale of the week was a contemporary home in the Estates of La Jolla Heights that sold for $13,500,000. Built in 2000 and remodeled throughout, it sits on a cul-de-sac on 0.87 acres. Its design follows feng shui principles, and floor-to-ceiling windows take in views of the Pacific.

At 8,867 square feet, it is the largest home in this Top 5, and its nine bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, ten full and one half, are also the most of the group. The main floor plan is organized around a great room, with a library, living rooms and the kitchen nearby. Four bedroom suites are close to the primary suite, while a two-story guest house with two bedroom suites and its own private entrances occupies a separate wing. There are fireplaces in the family room, the living room and the primary bedroom. The home also has a private gym, a heated lap pool, a spa and a three-car garage with direct access. The property last sold for $8.25 million in 2014.

In the Leucadia neighborhood of Encinitas, an oceanfront home on Neptune Avenue sold for $8,000,000. Originally designed by architect Steve Adams and built in 2007, it is the newest home in this Top 5. It is also the smallest, with 2,118 square feet, three bedrooms and four bathrooms, three full and one half, on a 10,018-square-foot lot.

Private stairs lead from the property down to the sand, and an intact concrete seawall stands along the beach side. The great room has an open plan, vaulted wood-beamed ceilings and broad windows toward the water, and LaCantina glass sliding doors open from it onto an oceanfront deck of about 1,000 square feet. A large island anchors the open kitchen and links it to the great room. LaCantina bi-fold windows overlook the lap pool, the spa and a waterfall feature. The primary suite has ocean views, a fireplace and sliding doors to an enclosed patio that looks out to the Pacific, and its bath has a deep soaking tub, a large steam shower and two vanities. The property last sold for $3.7 million in 2013.

Milberry Farm, an equestrian property in Rancho Santa Fe, sold for $7,750,000. It covers 3.89 acres, the largest lot in this Top 5, and it has been completely redone as a working horse farm modeled on European ones. The ranch-style home, finished in wood and built in 1988, is the oldest of the five, with 3,400 square feet, one bedroom and one bathroom. The property last sold for $2.14 million in 2019.

The barn has stall fronts, partitions, windows and shutters from Röwer & Rüb, along with Dutch-style doors that can be shut at night without cutting off ventilation. Skylights and operable clerestory windows brighten its high aisle ceilings. Every stall has cushioned mats and an automatic float-style waterer. Work areas include six cross ties, two wash racks with hot and cold water, storage cabinets and a Röwer & Rüb solarium. A rider’s lounge comes with a large outdoor patio set with café tables and a fountain.

For riding, there is a 250 x 150 Ebb & Flow arena built by Dammann RisoHorse of Germany for all-weather use, plus a lunging arena, grass and sand paddocks, an oval six-horse walker by Kraft Brothers and a conditioning trail. The fencing is De Sutter Naturally tropical hardwood imported from Belgium. The community has a clubhouse and hiking and horse trails, and the listing says the farm is six minutes from HITS Del Mar Show Park.

Three of the bedrooms are in the main residence and one is in an accessory dwelling unit, and a beach-level cabana has the half bath. A private elevator goes all the way down to the beach. The fenced pool was built by Mission Pools, and the home also has decks, a patio, a loft and a two-car garage. Fireplaces warm the living room, the primary bedroom and the guest quarters.

The home went under contract six days after it was listed. Raini Gordy and Neil Cambra of Willis Allen Real Estate were the listing agents, and Stormalee Evans of Beachside Realty represented the buyer.
