Glencoe, Ill., Mansion Sells for $17.5 Million, Tops 2026 Chicago Market

A historic Georgian-style mansion in Glencoe, Ill., has sold for $17.5 million, the highest price paid for a home in the Chicago area so far in 2026. The sale, first reported by Crain’s Chicago Business, closed on the roughly 20,000-square-foot estate at 443 Sheridan Road on the North Shore.

The nine-bedroom home sits on more than two acres along the North Shore and was built in 1936 for Harris Perlstein, then the head of Milwaukee-based Pabst Brewing Co., according to Crain’s Chicago Business and the listing brokerage, @properties Christie’s International Real Estate. Architect William Pereira, later known for designing San Francisco’s Transamerica Pyramid, designed the stone mansion.

A three-year renovation preceded the sale

The sellers were Chicago-based developers Anita Lisek and Bart Przyjemski of Noah Properties, who bought the mansion in 2017 and spent roughly three years on a gut renovation, according to Crain’s Chicago Business. The listing describes a formal living room, a dual-island kitchen, a 14-seat theater, a wine vault, a spa with sauna, a guest house and a pool, pool house and tennis court on the grounds.

The MLS listing for the property, marked closed as of July 25, shows a final sale price of $17.5 million. The home had a winding path to that number: it first hit the market in 2020 at $18 million, was cut to as low as $12 million, and was pulled off the market before returning to sell at $17.5 million, according to Crain’s Chicago Business. The identity of the buyer had not been disclosed in public records as of publication.

The sale is the top price paid for a home in the Chicago area in 2026 to date, according to Crain’s Chicago Business, though it falls short of Glencoe’s all-time residential sale record: a $19.5 million lakefront estate that Groupon co-founder Eric Lefkofsky bought in 2015.

Why it matters

The sale underscores continued strength at the top of the Chicago-area housing market even as overall sales volume has cooled in much of the region. High-end North Shore suburbs like Glencoe, Winnetka and Lake Forest have periodically produced the market’s priciest transactions, driven by a limited supply of large lakefront or near-lakefront estates with historic pedigrees. This story fits a broader pattern of luxury home prices rising faster than the broader market in 2026, a dynamic also visible in other high-end U.S. markets this year.

What it means: It is verified fact, corroborated by the listing brokerage’s own closed MLS record, that the Glencoe mansion at 443 Sheridan Road sold for $17.5 million. That the sale is the Chicago area’s top home price so far in 2026 is reported by Crain’s Chicago Business, the outlet that has tracked this property’s listing history since 2020; RealtyWire has not independently reviewed every Chicago-area sale this year to confirm the ranking. The buyer’s identity is not yet part of the public record. RealtyWire’s analysis is that the sale reflects sustained demand for a small pool of trophy North Shore estates, even as it remains well below the suburb’s all-time high.
