A renovated home from 1940 in an established Columbia neighborhood led a week that also took in waterfront living in Leesville and newer family homes in Lexington and Blythewood.

The five highest-priced home sales reported in the Columbia, South Carolina metro area for the week ending October 4, 2026, came to a combined $4.29 million. All five were single-family homes, and they spread across four towns: two in Columbia and one each in Leesville, Lexington and Blythewood.

The group spans most of a century. The oldest home was built in 1940 and the newest in 2021, and the list runs from a renovated older home in the city to a lakefront property and homes built in the last decade.

No. 1 — $1,200,000 · 3811 Kilbourne Road, Columbia, South Carolina

Heathwood is one of Columbia’s established neighborhoods, and the brick home at 3811 Kilbourne Road dates to 1940, the oldest of the week’s five sales. It sold for $1,200,000 after a renovation that kept much of what the original builders put in place: hardwood floors, a curved staircase, a round window, basketweave tile and vintage porcelain and brass hardware.

The kitchen sits at the center of the plan, with Monogram appliances, a large island, custom cabinetry and an original fireplace. Breakfast and gathering areas adjoin it, lit by walls of windows. Formal living and dining rooms fill out the main level along with the primary suite, which has two walk-in closets, its own laundry area and a bath with a soaking tub, a tiled shower and two vanities.

In all, the home has five bedrooms, five bathrooms, two fireplaces and 3,725 square feet on two stories. The other four bedrooms are upstairs, one of them a junior suite, along with a second laundry area and a flexible room that can serve guests or work as an office. The renovation also brought new electrical, plumbing, ductwork and HVAC systems.

The home has covered front and back porches. Outside are an enlarged backyard, a large patio and mature trees, and a front driveway was added. The property last sold for $675,000 in 2025.

The grounds were professionally landscaped. There is a patio with a firepit, a five-person hot tub and lighted pathways, and a gazebo by the water has its own lighting, a fan and a television. Inside, a four-season lake room with its own mini-split system reaches toward the shore.

The great room has a vaulted ceiling, a gas-log fireplace and custom built-ins, and it opens to a kitchen with quartz counters, Viking cooking appliances and plenty of cabinet space. The home has four bedrooms, four bathrooms and 2,850 square feet. The primary suite and two more bedrooms are on the main level, with the primary suite opening to the lakeside living areas, and a suite upstairs with its own bath doubles as a guest, office or exercise space. A two-car attached garage, a whole-property generator and lake-fed irrigation round out the place.

It went under contract six days after it was listed and sold at its full asking price of $1,125,000. The property last sold for $825,000 in 2021.

The home also has a formal dining room, a breakfast area, a large kitchen and a living room, and an upstairs loft can serve as a media room or game room. Every bedroom has a walk-in closet. The home has five bathrooms and a fireplace, along with a deep two-car side-entry garage.

The property last sold for $341,000 in 2016.
