The five highest-priced home sales reported in the Hartford metro area for the week ending October 18, 2026, came to a combined $9.79 million. The homes span nearly two centuries of building, from a Farmington estate built in the 1830s to a Colonial finished in the 2000s.
Farmington had two of the five sales, and Avon, Westbrook and Old Saybrook had one each. Agents with William Pitt Sotheby’s Int’l were the listing agents on three of them, including the top sale.
No. 1 — $3,000,000 · 11 Mountain Spring Road, Farmington, Connecticut

The top sale of the week was a Georgian Colonial estate at 11 Mountain Spring Road in Farmington, which sold for $3,000,000. The home was built in 1832, and the listing says its builder was the abolitionist John Treadwell Norton, a grandson of Connecticut Governor John Treadwell. The estate is on the State Historic District Register. For many years it was known as the Barney house, and at one point it belonged to the town of Farmington, which used it for formal events and weddings. The Corbett family restored it in 2001.
Behind its stucco walls, the home has 11,696 square feet, the most of any home in this Top 5, with six bedrooms, seven full and four half baths and four fireplaces. The entrance is a Great Hall with tall ceilings and fine millwork. The formal rooms include a library and a music room, and the home also has a billiards room, a wine cellar, an Irish pub, a media lounge and a fitness suite. The woodwork includes butternut cabinetry, built-ins of quarter-sawn oak and accents of burl wood.
The estate covers 4.92 acres across two parcels, 11 and 21 Mountain Spring Road, the largest lot of the five. The grounds are level and landscaped, border open space and look out over a golf course. There is a fenced in-ground pool with a pool house and a cabana, a tennis court and a greenhouse. A guest cottage on the second parcel has two bedrooms and 1,482 square feet of its own. A circular driveway leads to a detached garage for five cars. The property last sold for $1.52 million in 2001.
