A ranch-style house completed this year in West Des Moines sold for $1.48 million, the highest-priced home sale reported in the Des Moines, Iowa metro area for the week ending August 9, 2026. The five highest-priced reported sales of the week combined for $6.11 million, with the smallest of them at $997,000.

The five sales span West Des Moines, Johnston, Polk City and Waukee, and two of the closings landed in Waukee. Two homes were new construction finished this year, the other three were built between 1989 and 1999, and several sit on acreage lots running from 1.95 acres to 4.64 acres. RE/MAX Concepts handled the listing side of two sales on this week’s list.
