The five highest-priced home sales reported in Roanoke & Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia for the week ending November 1, 2026 came to a combined $17.04 million. Franklin County had three of them, in Moneta, Union Hall and Glade Hill, and the other two were in Forest, in Bedford County, and in the city of Roanoke.
Two of the homes sit on the water at Smith Mountain Lake. The others make a varied set: a newer custom home with a pool, a renovated brick home in an established Roanoke neighborhood, and a country property with mountain views.
No. 1 — $12,500,000 · 6189 Scruggs Rd, Moneta, Virginia

At Smith Mountain Lake, the week’s top sale was a contemporary waterfront estate in the Deer Creek Estates community of Moneta, which sold furnished for $12,500,000. RRB Builders completed the home in 2024, making it the newest of the five, and at 13,799 square feet it is also the largest. It sits on a 6.30-acre point lot with gently sloping ground, a riprap shoreline and a cove.
Inside, a wall of glass at the entry looks out to the pool and the lake. The finishes are the story here: floors of live-sawn oak, ceilings of white oak, barrel-vaulted details, doors of custom alderwood and stonework cut by hand. The kitchen pairs Cristallo quartzite counters and backsplash with cabinetry in natural oak and a deep green, and a butler’s pantry is tucked away behind it. The dining and great rooms open onto a covered terrace on the lake side, which has its own fireplace and a television.
The home has five bedrooms, six full baths and three half baths, and five fireplaces, one of them in the primary bedroom. That primary suite is on the main level, with custom millwork, two closets and a marble bath with a soaking tub. An elevator connects the levels, which also take in a library, a flex room and a loft with a beverage bar. Downstairs, a recreation level has a second full kitchen with blue quartzite counters, a fireplace and a walk-out to the grounds, and a cedar sauna offers both dry heat and steam.
Outside are a 60-foot heated saltwater pool above the lake, a private dock with three bays and patios set in designed landscaping. A detached garage has geothermal heated floors, with a fitness studio upstairs that includes a steam shower and laundry. The property last sold before the current house was built, for $912,500 in 2020.
CASEY DANIELLE JOHNSON of RE/MAX LAKEFRONT REALTY INC and PHYLLIS JOHNSON of RE/MAX LAKEFRONT REALTY INC were the listing agents on the week’s highest-priced sale. MARGARET JEAN CRAYE of EXP REALTY LLC – SML represented the buyer.

No. 2 — $1,420,000 · 413 Lakestone Rd, Union Hall, Virginia

The second-highest sale of the week was also on Smith Mountain Lake: a 1989 ranch-style home in Union Hall that sold for $1,420,000. Its 3.59 cleared acres run to the water, where a substantial boat house has three boat lifts and a separate swim dock sits alongside for swimming.
The 3,087-square-foot home has six bedrooms and three bathrooms, with the primary bedroom on the main level. Windows across the lake side frame the water, and the open kitchen has granite counters, an island and a breakfast area. Cathedral ceilings, built-in bookcases and a gas fireplace fill out the main rooms. A walk-out basement, heated and partly finished, steps onto a patio, while new Trex decking above gives a higher view across the lake. The property also includes a workshop and a cottage with one bedroom and one bath for guests. The listing describes it as a family home for generations.
The home went under contract 11 days after it was listed and sold above its asking price of $1.399 million. Richard Hague of BHG Base Camp was the listing agent.

No. 3 — $1,185,500 · 1192 Lake Meadow Ln, Forest, Virginia

Every bedroom in this Forest home has its own bathroom, and there are seven bedrooms, the most of any home on the list. The custom home, built in 2014 in Bedford County, sold for $1,185,500. It has 6,419 square feet, seven full baths and one half bath, and an exterior of brick, stone and vinyl shake on 2.39 landscaped, secluded acres near a golf course.
The main level is open, with hardwood floors throughout, a great room, a den and a bedroom. The kitchen is built for serious cooking, with a Wolf dual-fuel oven, a Sub-Zero refrigerator, a Wolf microwave and a large island. The finished basement works as a separate apartment, with its own exterior entry, a full kitchen, its own laundry and two bedrooms. The home also has heated floors, a central vacuum, an indoor fire sprinkler system and a whole-house generator.
Out back are an in-ground pool and a screened porch. The property last sold for $670,000 in 2018.

No. 4 — $970,000 · 724 White Oak Rd SW, Roanoke, Virginia

Built in 1931, the oldest home in this week’s group is a brick home in Roanoke’s Prospect Hills neighborhood that has been completely remodeled. It sold for $970,000. The property last sold in 1985 for $150,000, 41 years ago.
The renovation kept the classic home’s character while bringing it up to date. A new open kitchen with Thermador appliances, new cabinetry and a large island opens to a family room created in the remodel, and formal living and dining rooms remain for entertaining. There are fireplaces in both the family room and the living room, and a powder room on the main level. On the second floor, the primary suite has a private bath and a large walk-in closet, beside three more bedrooms and a second full bath. A finished third level, with its own walk-in closet, can be an office, a playroom or a media room.
The home has four bedrooms, two full baths and one half bath in 3,034 square feet, and air conditioning was added in the renovation. Its 0.49 acres are a double lot, with a covered patio, a side porch and a detached garage. The location is convenient to Downtown Roanoke, Crystal Spring, Virginia Tech Carilion, the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute and Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
LYNNE BOONE of ABOONE HOMES LLC was the listing agent and also represented the buyer, so the same agent was on both sides of the sale.
