The top sale of the week, 1 Melon Patch Lane in Westport’s Staples neighborhood, sold for $2,500,000. The Colonial and Contemporary home was built in 1969 on a cul-de-sac lane, and its 1.50-acre corner lot is landscaped with gardens, stone walls and a circular drive. Neighborhood restaurants and schools are within walking distance, and the beach, the train and the center of Westport are a few minutes away.

Glass double doors lead into a foyer and a great room with original beams under a vaulted ceiling and a fireplace faced in stone. The living and dining areas look out on the gardens. The kitchen has been renovated with white quartz counters and has its own spice pantry. The home at 201 Whites Hill Lane in Fairfield sold for $2,200,000 in the middle of a reconstruction. The 1986 Colonial, a few blocks from the Greenfield Hill Green, was taken nearly to the studs and rebuilt, and the work left for the buyer is the finishing: the surfaces, details and choices that complete the rooms. A new roof, new siding and insulation, Marvin windows and doors, new subflooring and plumbing rough-ins are already in, along with a newly built four-car garage.

At 8,994 square feet, it is the largest home in this week’s group, and its nine bathrooms, seven full and two half, are the most of the five. The property last sold in 2005 for $1.705 million.

The home went under contract 20 days after it was listed and sold for $105,000 above its $2.095 million asking price. Daniel R. McCamblau and Emma Langdon of Brown Harris Stevens were the listing agents, and McCamblau also represented the buyer, so the same agent was on both sides of the sale.
