Top home sale No. 1 in San Francisco, California — 1281 Greenwich St, San Francisco, California, week ending November 1, 2026

A gated, private porte-cochere sets the arrival at this Russian Hill home, which sits on a flag lot on a cul-de-sac. Architect David Swetz designed the modern interiors around a spiral staircase finished in polished plaster, and a private elevator connects all four levels. The home has five bedrooms, eight bathrooms (five full and three half) and 5,800 square feet of living space, with a four-car garage and an EV charging station.

On the main level, living and dining share one open, light-filled space beside a kitchen fitted with professional appliances, custom hardwood cabinetry and contrasting marble. The primary suite has a custom walk-in closet and a bath lined in one continuous slab of white Italian marble. Elsewhere the home has an infrared sauna and a cold plunge.

The top level is built for entertaining, with a media and family room, a second full kitchen and a long wall of glass. A terrace opens off that floor toward the Golden Gate Bridge, the Palace of Fine Arts and the Bay, and a rooftop deck sits above it all. The home sold for $19.5 million, its full asking price.

Andres Ardila and David S. Costello of Compass were the listing agents, and Costello also represented the buyer, so the same agent was on both sides of the sale. It was the highest-priced sale of the week and one of two Compass listings in this Top 5.
