The ranch at 38633 E Carmel Valley Road covers 8,811 acres of coastal range land, the largest property of the five by far. It is a working cattle operation, with a barn, horse pens, covered paddocks, fenced pastures and cattle corrals fitted with a chute, squeeze and scales. Old oaks shade the drive in from the gate. The ranch headquarters come first, with a large hay barn and a separate one-bedroom ranch house that serves as a guest house. A paved drive then climbs to the main home, a one-story ranch built in 1996 on a hillside. It has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, an open plan with both a living room and a family room, an open kitchen and dining area, and a hearth of river rock. A backup generator serves the home.

From the high ground the views take in the Salinas Valley and Carmel Valley, and on a clear day reach the ocean and Carmel-by-the-Sea. The land rises to Palo Escrito Peak, at 4,600 feet. Carmel Valley Village is about 25 minutes away by car.

The ranch sold for $17,700,000, its full asking price, and was the highest-priced sale of the week.
