The five highest-priced home sales reported in Syracuse Area, New York for the week ending November 1, 2026, totaled $5.965 million. Four of the homes are in Onondaga County and one is across the line in Madison County, and all five are single-family homes.
The group spans nearly two centuries of building. Two of the homes date to the 1830s and stand in village centers, one is a lakeside ranch from the middle of the last century, and two were built in this century on larger suburban lots.
No. 1 — $1,850,000 · 34 State St, Skaneateles, New York

For many years the home at 34 State Street in Skaneateles was the residence and studio of John D. Barrow, a painter of the Hudson River School. Known as the Barrow Estate, the Colonial was built in 1832 and stands on a corner lot of 0.57 acres, steps from the village’s restaurants, shops and lakefront. It sold for $1,850,000. The property last sold for $525,000 in 2015.
The home was built with nogging construction, an uncommon 19th-century technique, and later renovations brought it up to date while keeping its period character. It has 17 rooms and 4,780 square feet, with five bedrooms and five bathrooms, four of them full and one a half bath.
On the main level, a formal dining room sits between two living rooms, and each living room has a fireplace. The eat-in kitchen has custom cabinets that rise to the ceiling, a marble tile backsplash and a walk-in pantry, along with one of the home’s two wet bars. A guest suite has its own full bath and a private porch. Upstairs, two more suites each have a sitting area and a private bath, and the primary wing has a spa-style bath, three walk-in closets, a hidden closet and a second laundry room.
The landscaped grounds have bluestone walkways and a large bluestone patio, and the backyard is fenced in cedar. Covered porches add outdoor living space, and there is a hot tub.
