
The five highest-priced home sales reported in the Los Angeles metro area for the week ending October 4, 2026, totaled $82.275 million. One was in Beverly Hills, in Los Angeles County. The other four were in Orange County: an oceanfront home in Laguna Beach, a large contemporary home in Irvine’s Shady Canyon, and a home each in Newport Coast and Newport Beach. All five are single-family homes, and every one sold for more than $13 million.
No. 1 — $19,250,000 · 1140 Laurel Way, Beverly Hills, California

The week’s top sale was a Tuscan-style villa in Beverly Hills known as Chateau de Liberte, reached by a long, gated private driveway. Built in 1989, it is the oldest home in this Top 5, and its 0.86 acres make up the largest lot of the five. It sold for $19.25 million. The property last sold for $18.2 million in 2012.
The home is on a single level, with 5,889 square feet, four bedrooms and seven bathrooms, five full and two half. The formal living room has soaring ceilings, skylights, a bar and oversized French doors that open to the grounds. The interiors are finished in Venetian plaster and limestone, and there are seven fireplaces; the library, the kitchen, the family room and one of the baths each have one. Along with a large chef’s kitchen, the home has formal and informal dining rooms, a sitting room and a paneled study. The primary suite has two bathrooms and large custom walk-in closets.
The grounds include a heated pool and a spa, a covered loggia with a fireplace, and gardens and winding paths, and the views take in the city lights and the treetops. A detached two-story guest house has one bedroom. One bay of the three-car garage has been converted into a security center.

At 10,168 square feet, this home in Irvine’s Shady Canyon is the largest of the five, and its six bedrooms are the most of any. Built in 2014, it is also the newest home in this Top 5. It sits on 0.79 acres with canyon views, was extensively upgraded in 2024 and sold for $16.65 million.
The design is contemporary, with sculpted lines, tall volumes and wide glass doors that open to the backyard. The grounds have landscaped gardens and a pool. The great room has ceilings of about 14 feet and a large window that looks out to the backyard and the hills.
