The five highest-priced home sales reported in High Country, North Carolina for the week ending October 25, 2026 came to a combined $7.58 million. Each sale was in a different town, from Elk Park and Banner Elk in Avery County to Beech Mountain and Boone in Watauga County and West Jefferson in Ashe County.
The group spans nearly four decades of mountain building, from a home built in 1985 to one finished in 2024, and ranges from a lot of well under an acre in a gated resort community to a farm property of 14.50 acres.
No. 1 — $2,305,000 · 1370 Falls Creek Parkway, Elk Park, North Carolina

The week’s top sale was a log home on 4.47 acres in Headwaters At Banner Elk, a gated community in Elk Park, which sold furnished for $2,305,000. Built in 2008, the home has four bedrooms, three full baths and a half bath, and 4,557 square feet of living space, the most of the five.
Inside, cathedral ceilings rise over an open plan with hardwood floors, custom cabinetry and granite counters, and two stone fireplaces burn wood and light with gas. The kitchen, dining area, great room and primary suite are all on the main level. Upstairs are another bedroom, a bunk room and a loft that serves as an office, and a further flight leads to a sleeping and reading loft for children. The finished walk-out basement is the surprise: a den with built-in booth seating in the style of a restaurant, a workstation, a safe room and quarters for guests.
Outside, wrap-around decks with an outdoor fireplace face the long-range mountain views, and there is a hot tub. A covered gazebo for entertaining, added in 2018, sits above an oversized detached garage and workshop and has a gas firepit and heaters. The home also has a two-car attached garage. Residents of Headwaters share a mountaintop clubhouse with a fitness center, game room and theater room, along with a tennis and pickleball court, a lakeside pavilion, several parks and a natural waterfall. No. 5 — $1,145,900 · 3760 Bald Mountain Road, West Jefferson, North Carolina

Bluff View Farm, in Chestnut Tree Farms in West Jefferson, sold for $1,145,900, and its 14.50 acres made it the largest piece of land in the group. The home began as a working horse barn. The artist and designer Alain J.L. Huin reimagined it as a contemporary residence built within the original barn structure, keeping the timber framing and adding tall ceilings and walls of windows.
Built in 2000, the home has five bedrooms, the most in the group, along with three full baths and 3,175 square feet. Among its rooms are suites set in the old barn stalls. Wolf appliances equip the kitchen, the stone fireplace burns wood, and skylights bring in more light. In the utility room, a stainless steel commercial sink with three compartments, once used for pottery, remains in place.
The land is as much a part of the place as the home. Paddocks, pasture fencing and an outbuilding remain from its farm use, and raised garden beds sit alongside a mature orchard. A marked trail of about a mile leads to the property’s highest point and its panoramic views. There is also a hot tub. The property last sold for $991,000 in 2023.
The home went under contract nine days after it was listed and sold at its full asking price. Jonathan Lehman of Keller Williams High Country was the listing agent, and Eric Brooks of Mountainscape Realty represented the buyer.
