Durham-Chapel Hill, North Carolina Metro Area Top 5 Home Sales: Lake Hogan Farms Lakefront Home Leads at $2.2 Million

A Chapel Hill lakefront home, a farmhouse on more than 10 acres and two homes finished this year lead a week of sales spread across Orange, Durham and Chatham counties.

Durham-Chapel Hill, North Carolina Metro Area Top 5 Home Sales: Lake Hogan Farms Lakefront Home Leads at $2.2 Million

These are the five highest-priced home sales reported in the Durham-Chapel Hill metro area for the week ending October 4, 2026, and together they came to $9.37 million. Two of the homes have Chapel Hill addresses, two are in Durham and one is in Pittsboro.

The group runs from established neighborhoods to brand-new construction: two of the five homes were built in 2026, and the oldest dates only to 2004. Every one is a single-family home, and they range from a third of an acre in town to more than 10 acres of pasture.

No. 1 — $2,182,228 · 300 Lake Manor Rd, Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Top home sale No. 1 in the Durham-Chapel Hill metro area β€” 300 Lake Manor Rd, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, week ending October 4, 2026

The week’s top sale is a lakefront home in Lake Hogan Farms, a Chapel Hill neighborhood of about 350 acres, 100 of them common area. The home stands on 2.39 sloping, landscaped acres on a cul-de-sac, with views of the water and the woods. Built in 2004, it is the oldest home in this group, and its exterior combines stone, shake siding and fiber cement in a style that draws on Craftsman and traditional design.

The home has 6,109 square feet on three stories, with six bedrooms, the most of the five, along with five full baths and a half bath. One bedroom is on the main floor with a full bath of its own, and the finished third floor has another. An elevator serves the home, and there is a furnished theater room, two laundry rooms and three fireplaces. The kitchen and the primary bath have both been updated, and coffered ceilings, crown molding and built-in bookcases appear in the finish work. Outside are porches and a deck.

Residents share a community pool and clubhouse through the homeowners association, along with tennis and basketball courts and miles of walking trails. The property last sold for $1.37 million in 2013.

Inside are hardwood and tile floors, a kitchen with an island and a pantry, and a wood-burning fireplace. The home has front and rear porches and a three-car garage. The property last sold for $275,000 in 2017, before the current home was built.

The two-car garage has finished space above it that could serve as a studio or office, and the home also has an unfinished basement, two fireplaces, an electric-vehicle charging station and a backyard.
