Colorado Springs, Colorado Metro Area Top 5 Home Sales: 1922 MacLaren-Designed Cascade Avenue Estate Tops the Week at $2.8 Million

A 1922 Spanish Colonial Revival estate in the Historic Old North End of Colorado Springs, designed by architect Thomas MacLaren, sold for $2.8 million, the highest-priced home sale reported in the Colorado Springs, Colorado metro area for the week ending August 16, 2026.

The week’s five highest-priced reported sales combined for $9.66 million. Four of the closings were in Colorado Springs and the fifth in Woodland Park, and two came out of the same gated community, High Forest Ranch.

The houses behind them were built in 1922, 2000, 2002, 2015 and 2021, and they run from the Old North End estate to a 35.2-acre equestrian property with an indoor riding arena, a mountain ranch house with direct access to national forest, and two custom homes on treed acreage.

Alderson as the contractor of the 1922 house, and name its first owner as civil engineer E.C. Van Diest, whose work is associated with the Colorado Springs landmark Glen Eyrie.
