Granite quarried from the mountain forms a boulder foundation beneath brick walls, and the brick was hand-cast in wood forms. A redwood timber porte-cochere marks the entrance. The house spans a natural ravine and divides into two wings: a private north wing with its own entrance, a library and office, two bedrooms, a kitchenette and two baths, plus a full apartment reached from the garage below, and a south wing laid out for gathering. Italian marble floors and detailed ceiling finishes run through the south wing, which holds a bar and game room, a media room, a workroom, a wine cellar, a sports court and a pizza oven in the kitchen. Eight fireplaces are distributed through the house, and the craftsmen who built it were drawn from across the country and abroad.
Outdoors, several terraces take in extended views and a stone path climbs to a secluded spa. The setting takes in more than 500 acres of trails and open space, about five miles from the city.
