Built in 1880 and set half a block from the Public Garden, the four-bedroom residence headed a week in which the Boston metro area’s five highest-priced reported home sales combined for $27.29 million. The week’s list of Boston real estate closings runs from that $7.40 million sale to a $4.60 million condominium on the 46th floor of Winthrop Center.

The five sales span Back Bay, Westwood, North Hampton, Brookline and Downtown, carrying the week’s Top 5 home sales across the state line to the New Hampshire coast. Build years run from 1880 to 2023, and the list also includes a Georgian Colonial on more than 12 acres, a Queen Anne house with Atlantic views and a renovated former carriage house next to Amory Park.

No. 1 — $7,400,000 · 36 Commonwealth Ave #1, Boston, Massachusetts
