No. 1 — $15,250,000 · 94 Main St, Nantucket, Massachusetts

Top home sale No. 1 in Cape Cod & the Islands, Massachusetts β€” 94 Main St, Nantucket, Massachusetts, week ending November 1, 2026

The Hadwen-Wright House at 94 Main Street is a Greek Revival landmark designed by builder-architect Frederick Brown Coleman, and it was built in 1845. Visitors arrive beneath a monumental Corinthian portico. Inside, a curved staircase rises from the front foyer through soaring ceilings, past original wide-plank pine floors and preserved millwork, to a circular landing under a domed ceiling with ornate plasterwork and Corinthian capitals.

The most remarkable room is upstairs. The home’s original ballroom, with its dome, plasterwork and marble fireplace intact, has been turned into the primary suite. Two more guest suites share that floor, one with paneled walls and an exposed-beam ceiling, the other with a sunny seating alcove above the rear gardens. On the third floor, a hallway is lined with built-in twin sleeping alcoves, and a final staircase climbs to the belvedere, kept as a sitting room with views across Nantucket’s Historic District and toward the harbor.

The main floor has formal living and dining rooms, a renovated kitchen with vaulted ceilings and a large island that opens to the patio, a family room and a guest bedroom with its own bath. Below, the restoration took up the lower level’s original brick floor, numbered each brick and laid it back in place. A recreation room there opens to the brick terrace and gardens and shows off a historic brick-lined well under a glass floor. The home has five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and 6,106 square feet on a 4,356-square-foot lot, and it is subject to historic preservation restrictions. The property last sold for $4.7 million in 2014.

The home went under contract one day after it was listed. Bernadette Meyer of Maury People Sotheby’s International Realty was the listing agent, and Gary Winn, also of Maury People Sotheby’s International Realty, represented the buyer.
