These were the five highest-priced home sales reported in Washington, District of Columbia for the week ending October 25, 2026, and together they came to $27.55 million. The list runs from Dupont Circle and Logan Circle to Capitol Hill, Forest Hills and Berkley, and it covers well over a century of building, from an 1881 mansion to a contemporary home built in 2019.
The mix is as varied as the neighborhoods: a condominium, two townhouses and two single-family homes. Compass was the listing brokerage on three of the five sales, and TTR Sotheby’s International Realty listed the other two, including the top sale of the week.
No. 1 — $17,580,340 · 2000 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington, D.C.

The top sale of the week is a piece of Washington history. The James G. Blaine Mansion, a brick landmark built in 1881 at 2000 Massachusetts Avenue NW in Dupont Circle, sold for $17,580,340. Visitors arrive under a grand porte-cochère and over the original cobblestone drive, and below ground a three-level garage has room for 12 cars.
The building was renovated between 2006 and 2009 and is laid out on five levels with 15,210 square feet in all. Its first two floors are set up as offices, with more than 15 private offices, conference rooms, two commercial kitchens and a pair of terraces. A private elevator rises to the residence on the third and fourth floors and opens into a double-height reception area, where a paneled archway leads to a rotunda lit from a skylight above.
The residence is built for entertaining on a large scale. There are formal living and dining rooms of embassy proportions, a library lined with built-ins and two dens that look out over Dupont Circle. The kitchen, fitted with Miele, Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances and marble counters, is gathered around a wood-burning fireplace and a built-in breakfast nook, one of six fireplaces in the mansion. A partly covered terrace off the main residential floor has a grilling station and a water feature, and there is a temperature-controlled wine cellar.
The upper floor sits beneath the original mansard roof. The primary suite there has vaulted ceilings, two dressing rooms and two bathrooms, and the floor also has an office and a fitness room with a sauna. The home has four bedrooms and seven bathrooms, five full and two half. On the roof, a 46-foot lap pool and an outdoor kitchen share panoramic views across Dupont Circle.
