These were the five highest-priced home sales reported in the Birmingham, Alabama metro area for the week ending October 4, 2026, and together they came to $13.324 million. Three of the homes are in Jefferson County, in Mountain Brook, Redmont and Halbrook Estates, and two are in Shelby County, in Greystone Founders and the gated Shoal Creek community.
The group spans almost a century of building. The oldest dates to 1927 and the newest was completed in 2026, and in between are homes from the late 1970s, the mid-1990s and the early 2000s, from a landscaped estate of more than three and a half acres to a two-acre homesite on a golf course.
No. 1 — $6,200,000 · 3509 Salisbury Rd, Birmingham, Alabama

The Wofford Villa, as the estate at 3509 Salisbury Road is known, was built in 1927, and much of what makes it remarkable was made by hand. Craftsmen brought from Florence carved its doors, painted its murals and crests, and worked the iron and the Italian marble that run through the interior. The stone and stucco home sits on 3.65 acres in Mountain Brook, with mountain views, and it is the oldest and the largest of the week’s five sales, with 11,449 square feet of living space.
Inside, a great hall and a grand staircase lead to a formal dining room and a kitchen finished in marble. There are five bedrooms and eight bathrooms, six full and two half, along with a wine room and audio wired through the whole home. The primary suite has two separate bathrooms, one for each partner. The home has eight fireplaces, and a six-car garage is reached from a circular drive.
The grounds are a small compound of their own. A heated in-ground pool is paired with a pool house that has its own kitchen, bath, den and theater. A guest house with two bedrooms, a gazebo and a detached studio that can serve as an office complete the estate, and a deep well and a 12,000-gallon water tank supply it. The property last sold for $4.4 million in 2022.
The estate sold for $6,200,000, the highest price of the week, after going under contract the same day it was listed and closing $705,000 above its asking price of $5.495 million. Stephanie Robinson of RealtySouth-MB-Cahaba Rd was the listing agent, and Brian Boehm, of the same RealtySouth office, represented the buyer.

No. 2 — $2,700,000 · 1401 Windsor Cir, Birmingham, Alabama

The Redmont home at 1401 Windsor Circle brings together three names from Southern design. Architect Bobby McAlpine designed it, Francis Bryant built it, and landscape architect Ben Page laid out the gardens that surround it. Completed in 2004, the brick home is a cottage in the Cotswold manner and sits on a 0.35-acre corner lot.
The interior was put together over many years from reclaimed architectural antiques. The floors are reclaimed Character Oak, the oak beams overhead were milled from the property, and the mantels are antique stone. French doors close off the pantry, the kitchen island is honed limestone, and Bevelo lanterns and custom ironwork appear throughout. The home went under contract 10 days after it was listed and sold at its full asking price of $2,700,000. Stephanie Robinson of RealtySouth-MB-Cahaba Rd, who also listed the Salisbury Road estate, was the listing agent, so the brokerage listed both of the week’s two highest-priced sales. Jeff Newman of ARC Realty Inverness represented the buyer.
