Four single-family homes in the suburbs and one condominium overlooking the city made the list, which opened with a $5 million sale in Burr Ridge.

These are the five highest-priced home sales reported in the Chicago metro area for the week ending October 4, 2026, and together they came to $17.63 million. Three of the sales were in DuPage County, in Burr Ridge, Glen Ellyn and Naperville. The other two were a condominium in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood, in Cook County, and a home in Highland Park, in Lake County.

No. 1 — $5,000,000 · 15W181 87th St, Burr Ridge, Illinois

The week’s top sale was a custom home on 3.20 acres in Burr Ridge, built in 2019, which sold for $5,000,000. At 15,245 square feet it is the largest of the five homes. It also has eight bathrooms and a six-car garage, the most in the group, and its five bedrooms match the highest count among the five. The exterior is brick and stone, and the structure was built with steel beams and flexicore floors. Ceilings rise 12 feet on the main level and 11 feet in the walkout lower level.

An open kitchen and living area forms the core of the main floor. The kitchen has a Wolf range, double ovens and a Sub-Zero refrigerator, with a large granite island fitted with two food warmers and a walk-in pantry nearby. From there the space continues into a family room, a bar, an eating area and a hearth room with a fireplace looking out over the backyard. The primary suite is on the first floor, with its own balcony, a 21-by-14-foot walk-in closet built around a granite island, and a bath with a soaking tub and two vanities. A guest suite on the same level has a full bath and its own entrance. Upstairs are three more bedrooms and a 25-by-17-foot loft, and an elevator runs to all three levels.

Behind the home, an infinity-edge pool with a waterfall and fire bowls is set among Italian stone patios on several levels, with outdoor fireplaces, a covered veranda, a fire pit and a pool house. The walkout lower level opens toward the grounds and has a second full kitchen, a theater, a large recreation area and a workshop. The heated garage includes one air-conditioned bay and another fitted with a vehicle lift. The property is minutes from Interstate 55 and Burr Ridge Village Center.

Second on the list, at $3,287,500, was Residence 07 at One Bennett Park, at 451 East Grand Avenue in Streeterville. The condominium is new construction, with three bedrooms, three full baths and one half bath in 3,272 square feet. Its windows face north, south and west, and the views take in Lake Michigan, the Chicago River and the city skyline.

A designer owned the residence and finished it with custom built-ins, hand-painted and Phillip Jeffries wall coverings and designer lighting. In the formal living and dining rooms, two walls of windows look toward the lake and the skyline over herringbone wood floors, and a marble fireplace sits between built-in shelving. The kitchen pairs marble and wenge countertops with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, built-in wine storage and a large center island, and a family room beside it looks southeast to the lake. Each of the two guest bedrooms has its own bath. The primary suite looks out over north Lake Shore Drive, and its all-marble bath has a steam shower, heated floors and a freestanding tub facing the lake. The Glen Ellyn home at 281 Forest Avenue, which sold for $3,250,000, is a custom home completed in 2018. Four firms shared in its design: PB Kitchen Design, Park & Oak Interior Design, Oakley Home Builders and Michael Abraham Architecture. The home is on 0.47 acres just blocks from downtown Glen Ellyn, with no neighboring home directly behind it. The property last sold for $550,000 in 2016, before the current house was built.

Clad in cedar and stone, the home has four bedrooms, four full baths and one half bath in 3,900 square feet. Inside are an open floor plan, high and beamed ceilings, custom millwork and hardwood floors. Fireplaces warm the family room, the kitchen and a bedroom. For entertaining there are a cocktail lounge, a wet bar and a dry bar, and the home also has a sauna. The finished basement is a daylight lower level. The home has a detached three-car garage, a brick driveway and an electric-vehicle charging station.

The home went under contract 27 days after it was listed and sold for $55,000 above its asking price of $3.195 million. In Highland Park, a brick and limestone home built in 1933 on Waverly Road, directly across the street from Lake Michigan, sold for $3,100,000. The property last sold for $2.275 million in 2022.

The home has five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and 5,467 square feet, and it keeps the detail of its era: paneled walls, crown moldings, extensive millwork, built-ins, hardwood floors and five fireplaces. A sweeping staircase greets arrivals. The formal dining room has paneled walls, a carved marble fireplace and a statement chandelier, and there is a paneled library. In the sunroom, floor-to-ceiling windows look out on the grounds and gardens. The primary suite has a dressing room, a private balcony and a fireplace framed in original Delft tile. On the lower level are a movie theater and another fireplace.

Outside, the grounds have mature trees, a broad lawn, perennial gardens, a fountain and two bluestone patios. Lake Michigan’s beaches and parks, the Ravinia Festival, downtown Highland Park and Metra service to Chicago are all within easy reach.

The property last sold for $1.8 million in 2014, before the current house was built.

The kitchen centers on a white marble island, with granite perimeter counters, a 60-inch Wolf dual-fuel range and Sub-Zero refrigeration. In the primary suite, a wet room has a steam shower and a freestanding soaking tub beside floating walnut vanities, and the closet has custom built-ins and its own island. A three-season room has a limestone fireplace, heated floors and a paneled ceiling vaulted to 15 feet. The finished lower level adds a theater, a fitness room and a guest bedroom with a full bath. Outside are a bluestone patio with a fire pit and a grill station, and the third-car garage includes a sport court under a 25-foot ceiling.

Christopher Cobb of RE/MAX of Naperville listed the home, which was under contract 13 days later and sold at its full asking price of $2.995 million. Lauren Walz of Coldwell Banker Realty represented the buyer.
