Providence, Rhode Island Metro Area Top 5 Home Sales: 1896 Brick Georgian Closes at $4.50 Million

A brick Georgian built in 1896 and since renovated from top to bottom sold for $4.50 million at 79 Clarendon Ave in Providence, the highest reported home sale price in the Providence, Rhode Island metro area for the week ending August 16, 2026.

The week’s five highest-priced reported sales combined for $14.29 million and are spread across Providence, South Kingstown, Jamestown, Middletown and Block Island. The communities behind them include Green Hill, the Dumplings and Eastons Point.

The houses date from 1896, 1986, 2005, 2012 and 2016, and water runs through the record: ocean views reaching from Moonstone Beach to the Charlestown Breachway in Green Hill, deeded access to Mackerel Cove in Jamestown, a heated pool in Middletown and pond views on roughly two acres on Block Island.
