No. 1 — $1,895,000 · 12881 Akron Canfield Rd, North Jackson, Ohio

The top sale of the week was as much a horse farm as a home. The 40-acre property on Akron Canfield Road in North Jackson, the largest lot among the five, has a 27-stall barn with concrete aisles set with rubber brick pavers, and an indoor riding arena measuring 80 by 125 feet. The arena building includes a viewing room, a kitchenette, a bathroom, two tack rooms, a wash rack and a feed room. Outdoors there is a second arena of 150 by 300 feet, a 50-by-70-foot metal equipment building with a hay loft, three fenced pastures with automatic waterers and a stocked pond.
The log home at the center of it was built in 1989 and has 6,318 square feet, six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, more space, bedrooms and baths than any other home in this Top 5. Its great room rises two stories to a 28-foot cathedral ceiling, and a stone fireplace open on all sides runs from floor to ceiling. The kitchen has cherry cabinetry, granite counters and a breakfast bar, with a dining area alongside. The owner’s suite is on the main level, with a bath built around a heavy-timber tiled shower for two. Upstairs, a loft with its own fireplace looks down into the great room.
A walk-out lower level, a suite suited to in-laws, a caretaker or guests, a sauna and a hot tub round out the living space, and the home is heated by a geothermal system backed up by a wood furnace. There is a heated four-car garage, along with a workshop, a pole barn and a pergola. The property last sold for $1.45 million in 2022, and it sold this time for $1,895,000.
