No. 4 — $690,000 · 27 Lee St, Lancaster, Massachusetts

Passive solar design shapes the second Lancaster home on the list, a 1981 contemporary at 27 Lee Street that sold for $690,000. Large windows let sunlight into the rooms, and the dark tile floor of the sunroom absorbs the sun’s warmth through the day.
Skylights and a wall of windows frame the living room, where a wood-burning fireplace rises from floor to ceiling. The kitchen, with stainless steel appliances, connects to the composite deck, the sunroom and an oversized dining room. The primary bedroom, with a custom closet, is upstairs along with three more bedrooms, a full bathroom and a laundry room.
